Patience

My son has been training to play golf for two years and eight months by now and last Monday, he was finally considered ready to play on a "real" course. We were taken to Els Club, which had been hosting some of prestigious international championships.

His coach, Sujjan Singh, an Indian professional golfer, once was ranked 300 in the world, took us on a buggy to explore the whole 18 holes and while driving, he kept on emphasizing how important, especially for kids, to be mentally ready and know how to respect the sports, while at the same time, enjoy the game itself.

The first time to be on the golf course myself, I could not help feeling excited and liberated especially after a few months of Covid related lockdown where the views I had were the walls of my house or my garden. We enjoyed the space, and the summer breeze, the greens and just being out there with my son, who still did not realize how lucky he was to be trained by one of the finest golfers in the world at one of the best golf courses in Dubai where the pros have walked through the same paths.

For him, it was just another golf lesson, but without knowing, his hard work and patience has paid off. There's a long road ahead of him but so glad to see that he managed to hold himself up and pass the first barrier.
